Over recent years, farmers and specialist producers have made great strides in driving forward and promoting the value of supporting local food procurement. The growth of the Farmers’ Markets network has brought locally produced food to within a few miles of our doorsteps, or should that read tent flaps! A glance at the website (www.farmersmarkets.net ) will quickly tell you if there is a market near your chosen pitch. Indeed, many campsites in Britain sell local produce on site.
It’s reassuring to know that the value of local food production is finally gaining a higher profile, and that the merit of supporting local food producers is continually promoted as a worthwhile cause.
You'll find a few markets we have enjoyed on our previous trips by following the relvant 'county links'. It's obviously not an exhaustive list and we'd welcome pointers to others.
