The books & links to publishers listed below have all played a vital role in the creation of Guyrope Gourmet and have generally contributed to my love and appreciation of food, cooking and wine!  I've included them here as indicators, possible avenues of discovery which you may or may not wish to pursue - i'll leave it up to you!

Damascus Taste of a City (Marie Fadel & Rafik Schami: Haus Publishing, London, 2005. ISBN 1-904950-30-2) - A wonderful little book which captures precisely the art of 'travel' and cookery writing. It's a complicated ruse, Marie acts as eyes, ears and nose for her 'exiled' older brother Rafik, strolling through the streets of the old city of Damascus eating and drinking with old friends and relatives. The recipes are simple and effective and take me back to my year spent living in the oldest continually inhabited city in the world.

Campfire Cuisine (Robin Donovan: Quirk Books, Philadelphia, 2006. ISBN 1-59474-085-2) - This is the first book I came across when I was researching and compiling Guyrope Gourmet.  It's a terrific resource, with over 100 simple recipes specifically written for campsite cooking.

Cool Camping Cookbook (Hastings, Shireen, Gupta & Knight, Punk Publishing, London, 2007. ISBN -978-0-9552036-4-0) - Don't go camping without this book! A peach from the guru of Cool Camping, Mr Jonathan Knight and his pals at Punk Publishing.

Bread & Oil - Majorcan culture's last stand (Thomas Graves, reprinted by Grubstreet, London, 2006. ISBN -1 904943 52 7) - Another magnificent tome. Part cultural observation, part cookery book, above all this volume links tastes with travel and really brings home a true sense of appreciation for simple foods.

Grubstreet Publishing Ltd get a mention here as specialists in reviving and rescuing out of print classics as well as publishing contemporary volumes covering cookery, wine and aviation history. Food, booze and Spitfires, what more could you possible want to read about!

The Camping Cook Book (Annie Bell, Kyle Cathy Publishing, London, 2010. ISBN: 978-1-85626-933-9) Hot off the press, this tome is packed with over 60 delicious recipes from celebrated cookery writer Annie Bell.  Beautifully illustrated through out with spectacular photography shot on location in France and the UK.  It's a must!
